Gumushluk

. We meet each morning at the bus station and they tell us where we are going for the day. In this way we see all the best bits of the local resorts, places we would never have found, like for instance, Gumusluk, which apparently means silver goblet. On arrival, all the other tourists head for the cafes and beach. Adnan set off into the water. There is an island one hundred metres off shore but they assure us that it is possible to wade across. We are quickly waist deep holding our belongings aloft and watched by bemused onlookers but the water does not get deeper. We presume Adnan has the small Mediterranean tides under control. Once on the island we cross to the far side where there is a large flat rock which faces the sun and from which they dive into the sea. A small raptor has a nest at the top of the Island and frequently flies to and fro, presumably feeding young. The whole island is only about fifty metres long.
